Frontend Development - Build and maintain responsive, user-friendly web interfaces. Use HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to implement website and application features. Assist in developing reusable UI components in line with the team's technology stack. Translate approved UI/UX designs into functional frontend interfaces. Ensure that interfaces work appropriately across supported browsers, devices, and screen sizes. Collaborate with designers and backend developers to deliver integrated software features.
Software Maintenance & Bug Fixing - Identify, investigate, and resolve assigned frontend defects. Improve interface responsiveness, accessibility, usability, and consistency. Test implemented features before submitting them for review. Participate in debugging and troubleshooting activities. Document technical issues and communicate blockers promptly. Implement feedback from code reviews and testing.
API Integration & Application Functionality - Assist with integrating frontend components with backend services and APIs. Handle application data and user interactions appropriately. Support form validation, loading states, error messages, and other essential interface behaviours. Work with backend developers to troubleshoot integration issues. Follow established application architecture and coding conventions.
Version Control & Development Practices - Use Git and the team's approved version-control workflow. Create branches, submit code changes, and maintain clear commit messages. Participate in code reviews and follow feedback from senior developers. Maintain readable, maintainable, and appropriately documented code. Follow the team's development, testing, and deployment procedures. Observe basic security practices when handling user input, application data, and frontend configuration.
Team Collaboration & Professional Development - Participate in sprint planning, stand-ups, technical reviews, and project discussions. Provide regular updates on assigned tasks and completed work. Seek clarification when requirements are unclear and communicate delays early. Demonstrate initiative in learning unfamiliar tools, frameworks, and workflows. Take ownership of assigned tasks through implementation, testing, and handover. Maintain professional conduct, accountability, and a willingness to improve.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) - Performance will be evaluated using agreed targets across the following areas: Task completion: Percentage of assigned tasks completed within agreed timelines. Code quality: Readability, maintainability, adherence to coding standards, and responsiveness to code review feedback. Technical competence: Ability to implement frontend features, troubleshoot defects, and integrate interfaces with backend services. Testing and reliability: Thoroughness of testing and reduction of avoidable defects in submitted work. Learning progress: Evidence of improvement in technical ability and reduced dependence on close supervision. Communication and teamwork: Quality of progress updates, collaboration, responsiveness, and escalation of blockers. Professional accountability: Attendance, punctuality, ownership of assigned responsibilities, and adherence to development processes. Specific targets will be documented by the Head of Department or designated technical supervisor at the start of the contract. Assessment will consider task complexity, available guidance, project dependencies, and the quality of the final output.
